The first Craniofacial Center in Vietnam.
We are thrilled to announce the inauguration of Vietnam’s first Center for Craniofacial and Plastic Surgery at our partner hospital 108 Military Central Hospital in Hanoi. This will offer the first true multidisciplinary integrated approach to craniofacial surgery in Vietnam, treating over 2,000 patients per year – a 400% increase. The Center was opened by HRH the Duke of York and FTW at a ceremony on 4th December 2018. For more information please see the Center’s facebook page here.
International expansion: FTW and the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children
The first two senior Vietnamese medics have visited the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) to take part in FTW’s Fellowship Program there. The program in Canada has developed into a resounding success, with 10 more doctors already identified for 2019.
Memorandum of Understanding; Ten years of Facing the World in Vietnam
Celebrating 10 years of operation in Vietnam, FTW signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Pan Pacific Hotel, Hanoi to start a one-year partnership to promote and raise funds for life-changing surgeries for children with facial disfigurements. The event was marked by an appreciation concert.
Difficult Airway Society (DAS)
The Difficult Airway Society (DAS) is a UK-based medical specialist society formed to further management of the airway of patients by anaesthetists and other critical care practitioners.
FTW facilitated a conference in Ho Chi Minh City in August 2018 where the Vietnamese Society of Anaesthesiologists (VSA) introduced the official DAS guidelines, which are established in the UK, to their colleagues. This was following FTW negotiations with both DAS and VSA. Following this, DAS invited the four senior members of VSA to attend the DAS Annual Conference in Edinburgh in December 2018. FTW continues to work with VSA and DAS in order to introduce these guidelines into the Vietnam network of hospitals.
Our Vision:
to train 140 doctors and perform 40,000 life-changing operations over 5 Years.
Will you help us?!
