It is with great sadness that we report the passing on Sunday 2nd March 2025 of our friend and trustee Norma Timoney after a short illness. Norma had been a trustee of Facing the World since 2017 and served as Chair of the Board of Trustees from 2018 to 2020. Norma visited Vietnam numerous times as a volunteer surgeon with Facing the World and had been involved in overseas work since 2007.

In addition to her invaluable contribution to the charity, Norma was a consultant cleft and plastic surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital. She was the former lead of the paediatric plastic surgery department at Evelina London Children’s Hospital (2010-2022). She was a member of the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS), and a member of the Craniofacial Society of Great Britain and Ireland (CFSGBI). Her areas of clinical expertise with children included all aspects of cleft lip and palate, ear reconstruction and hand surgery, also facial paralysis.
