Our current board of trustees

Chair: Niall Kirkpatrick, BDS MB BS MD FRCS(Eng) FRCS(Plast) is a previous President of the Plastic Surgery Section of the Royal Society of Medicine. He is a Consultant Craniofacial Plastic Surgeon, having qualified in both Medicine and Dentistry. He is head and clinical lead of the multidisciplinary Craniofacial & Orbito-Palpebral Surgery Unit at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London, and also a member of the multidisciplinary Head and Neck cancer team at the Marsden Hospital, London. He is the Medical Director of Facing the World.

Jonathan Collier, MA, BM, BCh, BDS(Hons), MFDS, FRCS(OMFS), PhD

Simon Eccles, BDS MBBS FRCS(Eng) FRCS(Plast) is the Secretary of the Plastic Surgery section of the Royal Society of Medicine (2008). He is a Consultant Craniofacial Surgeon at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital where he specialises in paediatric craniofacial surgery.  He also works at The Charing Cross Hospital, London where he is a member of the adult head and neck and craniofacial surgery team.

Simon Fennell

Executive Director Trustee: Katrin Kandel BA MA Juris Doctor is a former Managing Director of Sal Oppenheim London, one of Germany’s oldest private banks and has over 25 years of experience in international finance. American-born, and a British resident, she is trilingual, speaking German and French as well as her native English. Experienced in the business world, she brings her knowledge and talent for fund-raising and organisational skills to the charity.

Natascha McElhone studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and was discovered by producer Ismail Merchant and director James Ivory while appearing in a Regent’s Park production of William Shakespeare’s Richard III. Natascha made her big-screen debut opposite Anthony Hopkins in the Merchant-Ivory period drama Surviving Picasso (1995). She then went on to star in The Truman Show, Ronin, Solaris and since 2007 has been in the American series Californication opposite David Duchovny. Natascha has been a longstanding supporter of Facing the World and was married to Martin Kelly, one of the charity’s founders.

Jim O’Neill

Tim Rees BSc (Hons) MBBS DRCOG MRCGP DFSRH is an experienced General Practitioner at The Redcliffe Surgery and a Programme Director in the Riverside GP Training Programme based at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. Tim has been involved with the charity for many years and volunteers his time as a GP to ensure the general health needs of our patients and their families are met. Tim also travels to Vietnam as part of Facing the World’s medical team, and when there he provides general health assessments to ensure that patients are fit for surgery.

Peter Schell

Mr. Richard Young MA BM BCh FRCS FRCS(Plast) is a Consultant Craniofacial Plastic Surgeon at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital where he has a special interest in facial reconstruction. As a core member of the Skin Cancer team he works closely with consultant colleagues in Oculoplastic Surgery, Maxillofacial surgery, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) and Neurosurgery. He believes that teaching and training are vitally important to the charity’s work. Richard studied medicine at Oxford and Cambridge Universities and completed specialist and higher surgical training in Hong Kong, London and Belgium.
